What is LED Light Therapy?

LED stands for Light Emitting Diode, which is a tiny computer chip encased in glass.  Each LED wavelength (color) of light provides unique therapeutic benefits.  LED is non-invasive, painless, and requires no recovery time.  LED light therapy may be used in conjunction with many other treatments/procedures to promote benefits and/or calm the skin post-procedure.

Prepping for LED Light Therapy:
Discontinue any manual or physical exfoliation 3-5 days prior. To ensure the skin is not damaged by over-exfoliation, discontinue use of any products containing ingredients that slough off skin cells. (This includes, but is not limited to AHAs, BHAs, enzymes, micro-beads, and retinoids.) Discontinue use of Retinol for 7-14 days prior to treatment depending on skin condition. If you have just begun using the product and are experiencing flaking, peeling, redness, dryness, or irritation, discontinue for 14 days prior to receiving this service. Avoid sun exposure for 5-7 days prior to the service.
 
Contraindications:
  • Extreme sensitivity to light -migraines brought on by bright light
  • Use of photosensitizing drugs
  • Melasma or hyperpigmentation exacerbated by mild warmth
  • Accutane should be discontinued 6 months in advance of treatment
  • Clients should seek medical approval for use during pregnancy, have suspicious lesions or skin cancers, or are being treated for any serious health condition
