Pre-Post Treatment Instructions
Prior to your injections
As with any injectable procedure, cosmetic injections may cause swelling and bruising. Most episodes are very mild and resolve shortly. DO NOT APPLY cosmetics or creams to the site of ANY injection for at least 12 hours:
- To reduce chances of bruising, please avoid the following for 1-2 weeks prior to your visit: any form of alcohol, aspirin, medications containing ibuprofen, aspirin or naproxene.
- To aid in faster recovery, take Arnica capsules prior to and after the procedure (available for purchase in our offices)
Post-Treatment Instructions for PROJECT GLAMMERS Exclusive Procedures
Butt – Sculptra Butt Lift
- The day of the procedure–please shower while paying special attention to the area of injection but do not apply any skin care products.
- 5 – 5 – 5 Rule: Perform a point pressure massage to the treatment area (as instructed by our medical staff) 5 times a day, for 5 minutes each time, for a duration of 5 days. Using powerful electric percussion massager or professional massage services is recommended due to hard to reach areas
- Avoid exercising for 5 days after the treatment, and exercise of the butt muscles such as squats for 7 days. Please note that mild tenderness with exercise in the area is normal beyond 5-7 days
- Avoid sun and UV sunlamp exposure, as well as hot baths, saunas, steam rooms and whirlpools for 24 hours after treatment
- Avoid any skin care products to the area for at least 24 hours
- Bruising is normal and may appear within days after the initial injection
Hair – Hair Restoration
- The day before the procedure–avoid any alcohol and excessive amounts of caffeine
- The morning of the of the procedure–please shampoo your hair BUT avoid any leave-in hair care products
- The day of the procedure please arrive well hydrated (drink at least 3-4 full glasses of water prior) and don’t forget to eat–you will get a blood draw to obtain
- We will apply numbing cream prior to the procedure. Please expect that your hair will be greasy after we are done. While shorter hair could be cleaned in the office, longer hair will need to be shampooed in 8-12 hours at home
- Avoid using any other hair care products for 12 hours. You may return to your normal hair routine after that
- Avoid sun and UV sunlamp exposure to the scalp for 48 hours after treatment
- Wait at least 1 week before using any chemical hair treatments
- Avoid alcohol and cigarettes for 72 hours after the treatment
Rescue – Hyaluronidase Treatment
- 5 – 5 – 5 Rule: Perform a point pressure massage to the treatment area (as instructed by our medical staff) 5 times a day, for 5 minutes each time, for a duration of 5 days to achieve the best results
- Avoid make up or skin care until the end of the day of injection
- Experiencing temporary swelling for a few days is normal. To decrease swelling, avoid drinking fluids before bedtime and prop yourself up on several pillows at night. You could also consider taking an over the counter antihistamine for 4-5 days after the injection
Skin (RF microneedling )
- The day before the procedure–avoid any alcohol and excessive amounts of caffeine
- The day of the procedure please arrive well hydrated (drink at least 3-4 full glasses of water prior) and don’t forget to eat–you will get a blood draw to obtain
- You may experience swelling, redness and itching for 24-48 hours after your procedure, accompanied by a flushed feeling in the treatment area
- Do not apply ice or cooling compresses as the heat is the body’s natural healing response
- Use HYDRATE Ultra cream several times a day to aid in the healing process and keep skin hydrated
- Avoid saunas, Jacuzzis and pols for 24 hours
- Avoid putting make-up on for 24 hours.
- After 24 hours, you may wear make up but make sure you clean your skin thoroughly each night–DO NOT sleep with make up on the treatment area
- If any prescription medications were recommended, please complete the recommended course
- Sun avoidance is strongly recommended for 4-6 months after each procedure
- DEFEND Sunblock SPF 40 is to be used daily to protect your skin from harmful sun rays

Post-Treatment Instructions
Aqua Gold Pre-Appointment Instructions
- No area to be treated should receive any type of chemical peel or any injectable procedures for two weeks prior to or after treatment
- Waxing and/or use of chemical depilatories must be avoided for one week prior to and after AQUAGOLD® Fine Touch treatment
Shaving is allowed immediately before treatment and 48–72 hours after treatment, as long as there is no skin irritation
- Topical prescriptions including but not limited to Retin-a, renova and tazorac must not be used for three days prior to treatment
- Avoid abrasive scrubs or other exfoliating products three days prior to treatment
- Area to be treated must be clean and or free of any lotion, makeup or sunscreen. Please remove prior to treatment
- You may not be pregnant or breastfeeding for Aquagold Fine Touch
- Notify provider of any tattoos, including cosmetic tattooing, in the vicinity of the area to be treated as tattoos must be avoided
- If you have a history of cold sores, we may recommend prophylactic antiviral therapy in the form of antiviral medication. Follow the directions for your prescription
- If you have a history of keloids/scarring Aquagold Fine Touch cannot be performed
Aqua Gold Post Treatment instructions
- It is recommended that makeup not be applied the day of the procedure
- Do not wash your face for the first six hours after Aquagold Fine Touch treatment. After that, you may wash the treated area gently with a gentle cleanser, and apply your routine skin moisturizer after. You may resume your daily skin care regimen the next day
- Sleep on your back with your head elevated slightly to reduce swelling for the few days after the procedure
- A sunburn-like effect is normal for one day. The treated area may appear pink in color, but will resolve in one to two hours. The skin may feel tight, dry, swollen and sensitive to the touch which is normal
- Sun exposure must for at least one to two weeks. If you know you will get incidental sun exposure – i.e. driving to and from work, walking from your car to the house, etc. – we recommend physical avoidance of the sun in all treated areas, a protective hat and a full spectrum sunblock of SPF 40 or higher.
- Do not use exfoliating medications, chemicals or products on the treated areas for at least three weeks
- No exercise that causes sweating and no jacuzzi, sauna or steam baths if any skin irritation exists for at least 48-72 hours or until irritation subsides
For best results, we recommend a maintenance treatment every 3 months
Post Treatment Instructions for Injectables
FILLERS (Juvederm Family, Restylane Family, Belotero, etc).
- Avoid facial massages to the treated area
- Avoid treatment 2 weeks before and after injections or dental work
- Avoid applying make up to your face for 12 hours
- We recommend waiting 7 days before doing a HydraFacial or other skin treatments
- LIPS ONLY: Avoid smoking, whistling, drinking from a straw, and kissing for at least 24 hours after treatment. Be advised, your lips and mouth will remain numb for a few hours after the treatment; please avoid consuming hot liquids to prevent burning and be careful with eating
- Consider taking ibuprofen and or/anti-histamine AFTER lip injections to minimize temporary swelling if directed by your provider
- If you were prescribed an antiviral medication, please fill the prescription the day of the procedure, start taking it immediately and complete a full course as directed
NEUROTOXINS (BOTOX, DYSPORT, XEOMIN)
- Avoid hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools, and hot yoga for 24 hours after treatment. Regular shower may be taken
- Avoid lying down for 2 hours post treatment
- Avoid intense cardiovascular exercise for 24 hours (i.e. cycling, running, etc…)
- You should expect to see the neurotoxin’s full effect from 3 days up to 2 weeks
- If you receive a chemical brow lift treatment, you will be advised to return in 2 weeks for a touch-up of residual lines above your brows as needed
- We recommend waiting 5 days before doing a HydraFacial or other skin treatments
SCULPTRA(POLY-L-LACTIC ACID INJECTION)
- 5-5-5 Rule: Please perform pressure point massage (as instructed by our medical staff) to the treatment area 5 times a day, for 5 minutes each time, for a duration of 5 days
- Bruising is normal and may appear within days after the initial injection
- Mild tenderness after injection is normal and could be relieved with Tylenol. Please avoid taking over the counter medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil as these may cause or worsen bruising
- Avoid using any make-up or skin care for at least 12 hours after the procedure
- To assure the best outcome, avoid sleeping on your side. Attempt to sleep on your back or rotate sides. A memory foam or gel contour pillow is a great way to enhance and preserve the results
- Please avoid sun and UV sunlamp exposure, as well as hot baths, saunas, steam rooms and whirlpools for 24 hours after treatment
- We recommend waiting 7 days before doing a HydraFacial or other skin treatments
Post-Treatment Guidelines for Non-Invasive Procedures
VENUS FREEZE
- Immediately after the treatment, you may experience swelling, redness, and warm sensation in the treated area
- If you are treating an area for circumference and fat reduction, remember to drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated throughout the day. We also encourage light exercise following the procedure, such as a brisk walk, or your usual exercise routine to help your body metabolize the treated fat cells.
- Remember: results are NOT instantaneous and improvements will continue for up to 6 months from the initial treatment
- Results vary with each individual based on their body’s response to the treatment.
- Repeat the treatment plan to achieve maximum results
- Maintain the desired result by treating the area once every 3 months
LASER HAIR REMOVAL
- Protect your treatment areas from direct exposure to sun or artificial sunlight for 3 weeks before and 3 weeks after treatment and use broad spectrum sunscreen with total block protection. Tanning after sessions may result in discolorations!!!
- Handle your treatment area gently and avoid shaving for 24 hours after the treatment
- Avoid hot baths, aerobic exercise and massages for 24 hours after the treatment
- Consider applying Aloe Vera cream to the treatment areas to ease possible temporary discomfort. Ice packs may also be used if swelling occurs
- Make-up may be applied immediately after facial treatments unless blistering or crusts develop. Since the skin is sensitive during this period, take special care while removing makeup to avoid irritation and damage
- You should return for an examination of the treatment site between 4-6 weeks after treatment at which time you may proceed with the follow up treatment
HYDRAFACIAL
- Avoid using products containing Retinol or Retin-A 5-7 days prior and post treatment.
- Daily use of sunscreen is necessary to protect skin from premature aging, hyper-pigmentation as well as decrease the risk of skin cancer.
KYBELLA: Deoxycholic Acid Injection
- The most common side effect of KYBELLA include: swelling, bruising, numbness, redness and areas of hardness- usually resolving within 7-14 days after your procedure.
- You may apply an icepack or ice wrapped in cloth to the treatment area to help reduce swelling (avoid putting ice directly on your skin)
- You may elect to take ibuprofen, Motrin, or Advil if needed for discomfort AFTER the treatment
- We recommend sleeping with your head elevated. To achieve optimal results, please use the provided compression garment at night for a week following your procedure
- Avoid scratching, picking or traumatizing the area in any way.
- You may continue with your regular skin care regimen the day after treatment.
