Lacrimal surgery is used to treat excessive tearing in many individuals. In many cases, the tearing is caused by a tear duct becoming blocked or clogged leaving no passage for the tears to drain off.

To treat this condition, balloon catheter dilation (DCP) is utilized. A balloon is inserted through an opening in the corner of the eye and into the tear duct which becomes inflated with a sterile solution working to expand the tear duct. The balloon is then deflated and removed from the eye. As a result, tears will be able to drain away normally again.

If you’re looking for a solution to your teary eye problem, lacrimal surgery can be just that!
