A common sign of aging in many individuals is the drooping of the eyelids. This is a condition known as Ptosis, affecting either one or both eyes. Our muscles that lay deep within the eyelid begin to weaken and are not able to raise the eyelid any longer creating the droopy appearance. Some people may also develop Ptosis after they have undergone an eye surgery or an injury. If a severe case of Ptosis is left untreated, other conditions may arise such as amblyopia, also known as ‘lazy eye’, or astigmatism.
Due to the fact that Ptosis can cause partial or full vision impairment, a surgical procedure is offered to eliminate the drooping of the eyelid. During surgery, the muscles used to lift your eyelids are tightened, leaving you with improved vision and a youthful appearance.
